BRIEF INTRO TO GEORGIA
Geography
The State of Georgia is the biggest state in southeast America with Atlanta as the state capital. Beginning from the Atlantic Ocean, the state's eastern border with South Carolina runs up the Savannah River, northwest to its origin at the confluence of the Tugaloo and Seneca rivers. It then continues up the Tugaloo (originally Tugalo) and into the Michael River, its most significant tributary.

Population
9,544,750 is the estimated population for 2007, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Climate
Georgia enjoys mild temperatures all year round due to its latitude and proximity to the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico. Our summers are warm, our autumns brisk and sunny, our winters mild and our springs are blooming with dogwoods and azaleas. While there is minimal snowfall in the northern part of the state in the winter months, summer temperatures range from 80 to 95° F (27 – 35° C).
Time Zone
Georgia is located in the Eastern Standard Time Zone (GMT -5 hours).
History
Georgia was one of the original 13 American colonies. Many important American Civil War battles were fought there, leading to the burning of its Capital city, Atlanta. Subsequently, it has grown into the principal business center of the Southeastern United States and served as host to the Centennial Olympic Summer Games in 1996.
