Finnish manufacturing company opens plant in Georgia

Rome, GA -- FP-Pigments President Esko Sarkki announced that his Finnish company will locate a U.S. manufacturing plant in Rome, investing $20 million and employing approximately 20 people.

Sarkki’s company was founded in 1996. Its home plant is located in Valkeakoski, Finland. A relatively new manufacturing facility was opened in Germany, which Sarkki said is already sold out in terms of production capacity.

“We’re a rather young company based in Finland. It’s not as hot there,” Sarkki laughed. The company holds a number of patents and patent applications for both products and production processes.

Sarkki said a number of companies from Finland are located in the Atlanta area, and Rome is a perfect fit in terms of accessibility to both raw materials and a potential customer base.

The company has patented a broad variety of high-performance specialty pigments used in a number of applications including paints and coatings, paper and board, plastics and printing inks.
