Local Support
Local communities can reduce your start-up costs by providing important infrastructure improvements, paving roads, clearing sites, installing utilities and more. In some cases, communities lease or sell industrial buildings or sites to investors at attractive rates.
Foreign Trade Zones
Georgia has three Foreign Trade Zones (Atlanta, Savannah and Brunswick) where goods may be warehoused, processed or assembled without formal customs entry, payment of duties or excise taxes. Items held in these zones are also exempt from property tax.
Environmental Permits
Georgia’s one-stop environmental permitting process expedites the permitting process, reducing project delays. Georgia is unique in that its environmental permitting program is consolidated with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the issuance of federal permits in a one-stop process. Georgia’s unique permitting procedure allows the state to guarantee a 120-day turnaround period on environmental permitting requests (from application submission to the granting of permits).
Technical Support
Consulting and support for manufacturing equipment and floor design and engineering is available at no cost through the Facilitech program developed by Georgia Tech, one of the top-rated engineering universities in the nation.
